The economic growth is not strong enough to generate sufficient jobs to fulfill the needs of the Brazilian population and the lack of solid educational background makes the entry of youth in the job market difficult.
To address this problem, Portonave launched the ‘Novos Rumos’ project by which youth aged 16 to 21, enrolled in public schools and with family income below one minimum wage, are encouraged to continue their education and get an opportunity to enter the job market.
The students learn about human development, entrepreneurship, the cooperative movement, labor laws and digital inclusion, and attend lectures given by Portonave’s managers.

The project consists of monthly lectures on current and public interest topics open to the community of Navegantes. More than a thousand people have already participated in this project since its creation in April 2008.

To participate in the project, people must donate school material, which is then donated to the municipal schools of Navegantes, thus extending the benefit to the entire community.
For the past three years, Portonave has held a campaign on Driver’s Day for the health of the professionals working at the Terminal and those who have the Company as destination or en route.
Conducted in association with the Municipal Health Department of Navegantes, the program consists of participants undergoing free health exams, such as testing for high blood pressure and diabetes, in addition to receiving shots and information related to health, disease prevention, healthy diet, etc.
In 2008, the program covered 300 drivers, increasing to 800 in 2009, further increasing this year, showing the program’s success.
The project consists of welcoming the family members and guests of Portonave’s employees on Labor Day (May 1).
The Terminal remains open the whole day and special activities entertain employees and their guests. The project underlines the Company’s transparency and is essential for family integration.
Institutions such as universities, companies and technical schools are also invited. Nearly 1,500 participants have already visited the modern Terminal.

To honor the talents of Portonave’s employees, the Portonave Talents Project was launched with the slogan “I am part of this show.” Through the project, employees have the opportunity to showcase their painting, musical, dancing or photography skills.
As it is intended to bring employees together, the program is an exhibition and not a competition.
This initiative, organized by Grupo RBS, collects toys for underprivileged children in the region. In 2010, a team of volunteers from Portonave in this project.
The event, which collected hundreds of toys, was held at the central square of Navegantes beach, bringing together families and children of all ages, who participated in activities such as ball pool, board games, facial painting, and cultural presentations.
Portonave believes that by valuing its employees, it is promoting their individual well-being. That is why, dates that are important for Portonave’s employees, such as birthdays, graduation dates and birth of children are considered important for the Company.
On the last Friday of each month, members of the management and those whose birthday was celebrated in that month share a wonderful breakfast.
To encourage the participation of employees in the democratic process, during the 2008 elections, a channel of communication with the candidates for municipal offices was opened to Portonave’s employees.
The candidates visited Portonave to present their ideas and projects for Navegantes, engaging the entire community in the electoral process.
