Recycle Your Habits Project

In June every year, an entire week is dedicated to the environmental education of Portonave’s employees and the local community.

With the slogan “Recycle Your Habits,” the Environment Week emphasizes the importance of recycling trash and the adoption of habits that are beneficial to the environment

One of the project’s initiatives was the “2009 Trash Treasure Contest,” to award students of municipal schools of Navegantes presenting the best art works made with recyclable materials

Portonave’s employees also participated in a contest for creating objects made with non-recyclable materials, and the winners received an eco-friendly cell phone.

The contest aimed to raise awareness on environmental preservation, offering contestants the opportunity to develop their creativity and critical thinking in relation to waste of resources.

Words for the Planet

To celebrate the 2010 World Environment Day, Portonave, in association with the Municipal Education Department of Navegantes and the Regional Development Department of Itajaí, held the contest entitled Palavras do Planeta, aiming to promote creativity and raise people’s awareness on environmental preservation.

Based on the topic The Importance of Preserving the Environment, primary and secondary education students were evaluated through essays and phrases, while Portonave’s employees, who also participated in an internal contest, wrote essays that defined Portonave’s relationship with the environment..

Prizes included bicycles, computer laptops, CD and DVD players, in addition to educational games.

Each Drop Is Worth it

In September, Navegantes celebrates the Water Week.

In the latest edition, Portonave delivered a brochure to the 11,000 students and teachers of municipal schools in Navegantes on the measures to be adopted to preserve and water resources to be preserved.

Clean Beach

Praia LimpaPortonave encourages cleanliness in Navegantes, which is beneficial to the community and essential for the development of tourism.

The project includes such initiatives as the “Give a Ride to the Environment” program, which consisted of the distribution of 2,000 trash bags to be used in vehicles, in addition to stickers, t-shirts and leaflets with tips on environmental preservation.

The 2007 Clean Beach Project organized by Portonave mobilized over 500 volunteers, who cleaned 12 kilometers of the beach. The trash collected was sold and the proceeds were allocated to environmental education projects.
