Iceport

IceportPortonave’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Iceport S/A – Terminal Frigorífico de Navegantes is a center for storing, handling, distribution and consolidation of reefer cargo, offering solutions that integrate national and international management and logistics, such as road transport, customs clearance and ship chartering.

Iceport began operating as a cold storage facility in January 2009. Its automated cold storage chamber covers an area of nearly 50,000 square meters, with static storage capacity of 18,000 tonnes. From January through October 2009, Iceport handled 101,500 tonnes of cargo, generating gross revenues of R$15.7 million from trading and storage activities.

It is important to mention that the fire in 2009 called for the rebuilding of Iceport’s vertical storage facility, which began in May 2010. Compared to the previous storage facility, which was completely destroyed, the rebuilt chamber uses effective flame retardant barriers and has thermal insulating material PIR (polyisocyanurate) instead of EPS (expanded polystyrene).

PIR reacts better to fire and higher temperatures, and its composition forms high-density foam that ensures a good thermal insulation ratio of around 10%, reducing energy consumption to maintain the internal temperature in the storage facility.

After the new cold storage facility is rebuilt, it will have the same capacity of 16,000 pallet positions as the previous one, equivalent to corresponding to 18,000 static tonnes of frozen cargo.

The trading company of Iceport, the company that carries out commercial transactions in the foreign market, continues operating.
