Occupational Health and Safety Management System

In 2018, Portonave achieved OHSAS 18.001:2007 certification for its Occupational Health and Safety Management System. In the following year, it took a step forward and transitioned to ISO 45001:2018, seeking an Integrated Management System that aligns with sustainable development and improved interaction with the business environment and stakeholders.

Risk assessment and control

Portonave's Occupational Health and Safety management system is based on the identification and evaluation of workplace hazards, which allows the company to define the necessary measures to control risks at ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable) levels, in addition to enabling the prioritization of actions.

Intervention Mandate

Committed to ensuring an injury-free work environment, Portonave believes that encouraging the culture of intervention is essential to achieve the goal of zero accidents at work and, therefore, clarifies that:

  • Occupational health and safety are everyone's rights and responsibilities.

  • Everyone has the right to refuse risky situations and question leadership.

  • When in doubt: stop and intervene. Don't let small deviations put your safety at risk.

Drug and Alcohol Policy

By prioritizing the health and well-being of professionals and service providers, Portonave condemns the misuse of alcohol and drugs.

  • Controlled Medications

    The use of medications that may affect performance must be communicated to the immediate superior or the outpatient clinic before the start of activities.

  • Preventive Testing

    The company may carry out preventive tests for alcohol and drug detection whenever necessary, prioritizing the integrity of the work environment.

  • Accident Analysis

    In the event of an accident, tests may be applied to assess the influence of substances and ensure a safer environment.

  • Supporting Treatment

    Alcohol and drug abuse is treated as a health issue. The company guides professionals to seek help and appropriate treatment in such cases.

  • Medical Confidentiality

    Medical information is treated with complete confidentiality, accessible only to company-designated occupational physicians.

  • Consequences for Violation

    Failure to comply with this policy will result in the professional's immediate removal from the workplace and may lead to disciplinary action.

The company maintains a strict system for the registration, approval and control of the purchase of products and services and requires full compliance among all contractors with the policy of its management system.

Emergency Control Plan (ECP

ECP standardizes emergency responses, increasing efficiency, safety, thus reducing the risk of human, material, and environmental losses.

Portonave and Iceport maintain ECPs for scenarios such as rescue at height, injuries, fires, chemical leaks, falling into water, adverse conditions, and environmental accidents, with training simulations conducted monthly.

Integration with Mutual Assistance Plans (MAPs) and Area Plan (AP)

In addition to the ECP, Portonave is a member of the Mutual Assistance Plans (MAPs) and the Area Plan (PA) of the Itajaí-Açu River Port complex.
